GARLIC SCAPES

Our hardneck Garlic also produce Garlic Scapes which are the curly tipped, extremely tasty green shoots. These are removed in early summer, as this will allow the bulbs of garlic to grow larger and fuller.

You can eat the scapes raw, grill them, fry them, or make pesto.

We chop them up and freeze for later cooking. Can be used in any dish you would otherwise use cloves or powder. These also have the same health benefits as the Garlic cloves.

If you haven’t cooked with garlic scapes, you are missing out on a simple and mildly flavorful part of the garlic plant that is only available for a limited time each year in June and July.
